This is the last Sunday of Advent season. As we prepare for the celebration of Christ birth we look at the familiar story found in Luke 2:1-12. Even though we have read it many times it still holds surprises for us, most of all, the Wonders of His love. Join us as we are reminded that Christmas is full of surprises!

Jesus came that first Christmas, born in a town that had no room for the Savior. Instead of being welcomed by the people, Joseph and Mary were left outside with the animals as Jesus was born. While Bethlehem was not prepared to welcome Jesus, let our hearts prepare him room.

December our series of messages is titled, "Joy to the World”. The carol of the same name is the most published Christmas carol in American history. It speaks with accuracy to the meaning and message of our celebration of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. This week the message is titled from the third verse, Far as the curse is found. In Genesis 3 we are reminded of the first promise of a Redeemer. Let us look together at the source of Joy.

This week we come to the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount. Again we see how Jesus leads us to the heart of the matter. The question is, “What will you do with the message you have heard?" Will you live out the teachings of Jesus or will you just admire them. Jesus points out that we cannot tell if other people are just fans or are followers. The outward appearances are the same. The difference will be seen when the storms come - and they will come.

Judas was among the Twelve men that Jesus called to follow him as disciples. Although he was close in proximity to the Lord his heart couldn't have been farther from Him. Judas' betrayal of Christ serves as a somber warning of the fate of so called Christians whose hearts are not truly set on following Jesus.

This Sundays message comes from Matthew 7:13-23. We continue to discover the richness of the sermon on the mount. In these verse Jesus calls us to take care in our life choices. In particular we are to choose to enter the narrow gate, to treat others with kindness and grace. We are also to choose our teachers carefully for there are many false teachers and we are to choose to walk daily with Christ. May God give each of wisdom that we will daily make Kingdom choices.

We live in such a turbulent time where the road ahead seems uncertain. But we have a wonderful hope to celebrate! This Sunday we will look at Jesus’ promise to us revealing the power of persistent prayer. In this sermon Jesus has been revealing to us how radically different the life of the disciple is from the world. As we consider these things we are left wondering how can I live up to these expectations. Jesus answers that question by saying “Your Father knows how to give you good gifts.” He is our sources of righteousness and hope. As we journey in faith, we are never alone.

This week we move to Matthew chapter 7 to work through the final major division of the Sermon on the Mount. The message from the first verses I have titled, The Splinter and the Log. Jesus calls us to have a caring rather than a critical heart towards others. Jesus’ teaching challenges us to face our own judgmental hearts with the words, “Judge not, or you will be judged.” How do we live out that command? How do we protect relationships and the Gospel. Again, Jesus goes with to the Heart of the Matter.

God would have us enjoy the riches of His Kingdom and Jesus warns us of the soul impoverishing anxiety and worry that the world offers us. In Jesus' Sermon he goes to the heart of the matter and He challenges us to question where our treasures are.

In the sermon on the Mount Jesus gives us this wonderful teaching on prayer. He first teaches us to be sincere in our prayer and then He teaches us how to pray. As we look at His instruction together my hope is that we be called to a life of prayer.
