Our Ministry to the Deaf at
We believe that every person is “fearfully and wonderfully” and uniquely made. Because each person is important to God, they are also important to us. We know that the Deaf community involves a differing culture and various communication styles. We strive within our ministry to communicate God’s love and His Word to the Deaf through Sign. We have several hearing lay-people involved in interpreting all of our Sunday and Wednesday services. In addition, we offer an 11:00 am Sunday Bible Study class for the Deaf. We join with the SBCD (Southern Baptist Conference of the Deaf) and MiBCD (Michigan Baptist Conference of the Deaf) to provide fellowship, ministry, and worship opportunities within our church and the greater Detroit community. Each Fall, we offer “Easy Communication”, a 10-week beginning Sign class to teach hearing people the signs necessary for basic communication with deaf people. We also offer other interpreter training opportunities.
