As we explore the life of the disciple in Scripture, we are turning to the words of Jesus in Luke 18. In the first part of this chapter Jesus tells us a parable, and before we read the parable we are told what it is about. This is unusual. This parable was given so that we would know, that as disciples of Jesus we are to always pray and to not give up. So, Don’t give up

As we continue to pursue the goal of Godliness we will explore the critical role of prayer in the life of the disciple of Christ. His disciples came to him asking," Lord teach us to pray". We as His disciples today need to grow in our understanding and practice of a life of prayer. This become all the more apparent when we remember that we are engaged in spiritual warfare. To be able to stand in a world that has become increasingly dark we need to employ the spiritual weapons of the word of God and praying in the spirit at all times. Let us consider the importance of persistent prayer.

Jesus came that first Christmas, born in a town that had no room for the Savior. Instead of being welcomed by the people, Joseph and Mary were left outside with the animals as Jesus was born. While Bethlehem was not prepared to welcome Jesus, let our hearts prepare him room.

December our series of messages is titled, "Joy to the World”. The carol of the same name is the most published Christmas carol in American history. It speaks with accuracy to the meaning and message of our celebration of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. This week the message is titled from the third verse, Far as the curse is found. In Genesis 3 we are reminded of the first promise of a Redeemer. Let us look together at the source of Joy.

This week we come to the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount. Again we see how Jesus leads us to the heart of the matter. The question is, “What will you do with the message you have heard?" Will you live out the teachings of Jesus or will you just admire them. Jesus points out that we cannot tell if other people are just fans or are followers. The outward appearances are the same. The difference will be seen when the storms come - and they will come.

Judas was among the Twelve men that Jesus called to follow him as disciples. Although he was close in proximity to the Lord his heart couldn't have been farther from Him. Judas' betrayal of Christ serves as a somber warning of the fate of so called Christians whose hearts are not truly set on following Jesus.
