As we live for Christ He requires our faith. Faith involves our willingness to risk what we know in this life because of the confidence we have in the next. Join us in worship today as we learn from the account of the life of Jonathan in 1 Samuel 14. Let's praise him.

This Sunday as we gather to worship our Lord Jesus Christ, we will open the scriptures to read a pair of Kingdom parables found in Matthew chapter 13. We have a tendency to hold back. We are tempted to give God the leftovers of our life. Through these parables Jesus teaches us of the priceless joy that comes from through yielding our whole life to Him.

On Wednesday nights we have been doing a study through the book of Exodus. This past week we completed the ninth commandment leaving the 10th command for this Sunday, “Do not covet.” Though most of these commandment are given in a "Do not” or negative statement they all clearly have a positive intention. In the case of the 10th commandment, our creators intention is that we would live a life of contentment. The Bible shows us the way to this fulfilling life and it is faith in Christ that gives us the strength to know the joy of contentment.

For the message this week we are going to read Jesus’ teaching of the wheat and the tares. It is a wonderful explanation of why things are the way they are in the world and clear explanation of what we will become in the Kingdom of God. We will be reading from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 13 for the message titled “The Good, The Bad, and the Judgement"

The message Sunday is titled The Glory of Jesus. Our scripture reading comes from the Gospel of Matthew 16 & 17. Where Jesus was transfigured before his disciples Peter, James and John. This event in the earthly ministry of Jesus reminds us of the divine nature and glory of the Incarnate Christ. Through this teaching we are also reminded that Jesus is glorified today and is to be glorified by us in remembrance and in worship.

As we open the final chapter of 2nd Thessalonians we are reminded of the power of prayer and the need for prayer in our lives. Paul, requests prayer for himself from this group of young believers. This says much about the confidence that, like Paul, we should place in intercessory prayer. He will also emphasized the importance of work as a part of our faith expression. A lazy Christian is an oxymoron! The letter has been a reminder that we are confident in the coming return of Christ. He concludes the letter encouraging us to work while we wait.

This Sunday we come to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, one of the more difficult chapters to understand in the Bible. Paul is writing about evidences that the rapture has not happened yet. One of the primary evidences is, the fact that the “Man of Lawlessness,” or the Antichrist, has not appeared yet. In saying this he gives a description of the insidious work of this satanic world ruler. The reason that Paul writes on the subject is to encourage the reader to stand firm on the truth of the gospel and be strengthened in every good work. There is much good work that we need to do together for the sake of the gospel. Let us be encouraged by God’s word this week.
